HayMahj 101 : The Mahjong Basics
If you have never played a game of Mahjong or took a 101 class within the past few months but haven’t touched tiles since, this class is for you

Hour 01 : Dots, Bams, & Craks
In the first hour, our goal is to familiarize you with all the terms that are the building blocks of American Chinese Mahjong. You will be overwhelmed. If you aren’t, we’re worried.

Hour 02 : The Cards & Game 01
The single most confusing facet of Mahjong is the National Mahjong League Cards. We’ll do a deep dive on terminology, how to win, and play our first game, tiles UP!

Hour 03 : The Charleston & Game 02
After dealing and before gameplay, we do a fun little diddy called the Charleston. It takes 45 minutes to teach but 5 minutes to do. Take a deep breath, let the instructions hit you and then let’s play your first concealed game! May the best (wo)man win!

Terms & Conditions
To book a HayMahj class, whether it be public or private, there are no refunds within seven days of the event. You can, however, use your spot on a future class credit, subject to price increases and availability. Full refunds are permitted if the event is outside the seven day window.
Each class has a baseline price with additions subject to location and day of the week. If you live in the Upstate of South Carolina but are outside of the following zip codes: 29605, 29601, 29607, 29609, 29611, 29614, 29615, there is an additional cost per person. If you live outside of the Upstate of South Carolina, all pricing will be discussed and agreed upon with Hayden and Morgan. If you would like to host a class on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, there is an additional cost per person as well.
All private classes require a 50% deposit of estimated number of attendees to hold a specific date. Until that deposit is received and confirmation is sent from Hayden or Morgan, no date is confirmed. Final payment for all private classes are due 24 hours before the start of class.
HayMahj brings everything needed to play the game of American Chinese Mahjong, including but not limited to: tiles, mats, racks, pushers, cards, lighting, and curriculum. HayMahj does NOT bring tables, chairs, or refreshments.
Each 101 class lasts a full three hours and HayMahj arrives 30 minutes prior to class start, unless otherwise discussed, to set up all tables. To streamline set up, we ask that the tables that are to be used are ready for Mahjong sets upon our arrival.
Included in the class is instruction, supervised play, a HayMahj enamel pin, and a follow up email with resources, links, and discount codes specific to HayMahj. There are National Mahjong League cards available for purchase as well as select few other items if desired.
